Changes in crop farming techniques in the last fifty years saw huge amounts of hedgerows destroyed to make way for large wheat fields. This resulted in a huge percentage of wild life, wild flowers, birds, trees and bushes being destroyed by losing their natural habitat.
Today farmers are becoming more aware of this damage and many are switching to organic farming and better farm management.

The benefits of home grown products, allotments and organic farming are becoming more and more apparent. The use of chemicals and pesticides have created pollution and killed wild life and bird life. Growing your own vegetables and fruit and encouraging your children to participate and understand why this is so important will improve the life style and well being of people in Britain today.
