East London Old and New

The changes that have taken place in the last twenty years have been substantial in East London. Now with the advent of the Olympics and the new Stratford City development East London is now set for yet another major facelift.

But what happens to the communities, workers and way of life that currently exists? ABV seeks to record these changes. By capturing the shopkeepers, small businesses, housing, transport and cultural changes taking place over the next ten years.

East London as we know it today

The changing face of East London

Views of East London as we know it, left the Thames Barrier, centre the Docklands light railway at Canary Wharf and right one of the preserved old dockland cranes at Harbour Exchange.

More images of East London above showing the range of old and new architecture throughout the area. Industry has played an important role in Britain and now with the demise of many of the industrial sites in Britain ABV is creating a database of these historical industries.
